TAKE A STEP

The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way. – Psalm 37:23

One of the most common questions people ask is, “How can I know what God wants me to do?” Scripture shows us that God usually leads us in steps, not leaps. He orders our path one step at a time.
We receive God’s direction by seeking His presence, not just His provision. When Moses stood at a crossroads, he said, “If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here” (Exodus 33:15). Always have a heart that seeks God because direction without His presence is never the goal.
The primary way God orders our steps is through His Word. “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path” (Psalm 119:105). A lamp does not show the entire road ahead; it provides light for the next step. But God’s Word continually lights our path because it is “living and powerful” (Hebrews 4:12).
God has also given us the Holy Spirit to guide us: “He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you” (John 14:26). As we spend time in God’s Word, we learn to recognize His voice. But He will not give us new direction if we ignore what He has already revealed to us.
Sometimes following God means releasing a previous season. What He used before may now need to be surrendered. “Do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is” (Ephesians 5:17). As we are obedient, understanding and clarity will come.
The Lord delights in guiding willing hearts, so what step is God asking you to take today?
Trust Him. Take the step. He will be faithful to order your next ones!
