GRATITUDE & THANKFULNESS

“In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”  -1 Thessalonians 5:18

Gratitude aligns us with God’s will and draws us closer to Him. No matter what challenges we face, we can make the choice to thank Him. Embracing a grateful heart doesn’t ignore tough times—it acknowledges God’s faithfulness in the midst of them.

Consider this: if the worst thing that can happen to us is death, even then, for those in Christ, we win, for “to depart and be with Christ… is far better” (Philippians 1:23). In every trial, there is reason to give thanks. You are forgiven, your name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life, and you are loved by a Savior who has prepared eternity for you.

Hebrews 13:15 encourages us, “Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.” When it is difficult to feel grateful, it becomes a sacrifice—a sweet offering to God. Habakkuk modeled this when, even in tough times, he declared, “Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation” (Habakkuk 3:18).

Gratitude transforms our perspective. Instead of approaching God with demands, Psalm 100:4 teaches us to “enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise.” This isn’t just protocol for worship—it is the key to joy and peace.
