“Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming.” — Matthew 24:42
The twenty-fourth chapter of Matthew reminds us to be aware of the signs of the times, and it gives us a picture of what will happen before Jesus returns. Since nearly 30% of the Bible is prophecy, it is clear that God wants us to understand His plan; not to bring us fear, but to give us hope and an understanding of what is coming.
Rest assured that He will return as promised: “And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me” (Revelation 22:12). The world will grow darker, but we do not need to fear. Jesus has already won the victory, and He will come again to establish His kingdom.
When He returns, everything will change in an instant. “For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord” (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17).
On that day, our bodies will be restored—no sickness, pain, or weakness—only fullness of life in His presence. As Philippians 3:21 declares, “[He] will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body.” Paul longed for this, saying, “I have a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better” (Philippians 1:23).
Jesus is coming soon, and each day brings us closer. Until then, remain steadfast in faith and live with eager expectation, holding fast the confession of your faith as Hebrews 10:23 says. For indeed, He who promised is faithful!
