REFUSE TO DRIFT

“Therefore we must give the more earnest heed to the things we have heard, lest we drift away.” – Hebrews 2:1

The Bible repeatedly calls God’s people to hold steady, remain anchored, and refuse to drift from the hope that is in Christ. Drifting does not happen in a moment—it happens quietly, subtly, when our attention, affection, and confidence move away from the Lord. But it doesn’t have to happen to you because God has already given you all the strength you need to stand firm.
There is power available for every believer who leans on the Lord. That is why Ephesians 6:10 tells us to “Be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.” Strength does not come from trying harder on our own. It comes from staying connected to the One who never changes. When the waves rise, Christ remains our anchor, just as Hebrews 16:9 tells us: “We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.”
God also calls us to intentionally guard our faith. We are told to “Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong.” (1 Corinthians 16:13). Standing firm might seem passive but it is not — it is a daily choice to cling to God’s Word, to pray, to worship, and to obey even when our emotions shift. Scripture reminds us that perseverance is possible because the Lord is faithful. “The Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen you and protect you.” (2 Thessalonians 3:3).
If you feel tired or overwhelmed, remember His promise: “Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.” (Isaiah 40:31). If you feel pulled away, return to Him. If you feel weak, lean into His might.
Don’t drift. Stay close. Stay anchored. Stay strong in the Lord.
