“Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” – Luke 10:19
As believers, we sometimes need to remind ourselves that the cross was not only about forgiveness—it was also about restoring what was lost in the Garden. Adam surrendered his God-given authority, but Jesus reclaimed it and gave it back to us. Jesus did not say, “Someday you will have the authority.” He said, “I give you the authority.” The early disciples did not have to wait for it, and neither do we.
The Bible makes it clear that this authority must be believed and acted upon. Just like a light switch does not produce power but controls its flow, our faith activates what Jesus has already provided. We are empowered, equipped, and authorized to continue the work Jesus and the early disciples began. We are meant to live as ambassadors of the kingdom of God (2 Corinthians 5:20), representing heaven on earth.
Too often, Christians wait for God to do something, but the truth is—God has already done everything that needed to be done. The resurrection settled it, and our part is to believe His Word, rise up, and walk in the authority He has given us.
So be encouraged. Don’t shrink back. Remember who you represent. Authority has already been placed in your hands. All that remains is for you to believe—and begin to use it.
Here is a prayer and declaration to activate these truths: Father, I now recognize that I am your ambassador, representing Your kingdom on earth. Thank You that Jesus has given me authority over the enemy. I believe Your Word, and I choose to walk boldly in what You have already provided!
