“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you; and you will be My witnesses…” – Acts 1:8
It is a wonderful thing to be saved and on your way to heaven! But did you know that Jesus talked more about living for the kingdom of God right now than He did about dying and going to heaven someday? It is true.
As Jesus began His ministry on earth, He said, “Repent, for the kingdom of God is at hand” (Matthew 4:17). What He was saying was that the kingdom is not only coming; it is near now and it is available. He even taught us to pray, “Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven” (Matthew 6:10). This shows us that God’s goal isn’t only to get us into heaven someday, but also to bring God’s will and heaven’s ways into our lives today.
When Jesus spoke of us receiving power, the Greek word he used was dunamis which means miraculous power, might, and strength. In Acts, 1:4-5, He instructed His disciples not to leave Jerusalem until they received the Holy Spirit. They needed that dunamis power to minister like Jesus did—and that same power is available to us today, enabling us to live “all in” for Him, demonstrating His kingdom to the world around us.
Today Jesus still offers more than salvation — He offers the power to live bold, Spirit-filled lives that bring heaven to earth.
You have a choice. Why settle for a passive faith when you can ask Him to baptize you in the Holy Spirit and live a life that demonstrates kingdom power to the world around you?
