Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed. -John 8:36
Many people believe that there is no absolute right or wrong. However, God’s Word clearly defines what is and what is not sinful. 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 states that those who live in unrighteousness will not inherit the kingdom of God. This includes all kinds of sins, but there is hope in verse 11 where it says and such were some of you. No matter big or small our past sins were, through Jesus Christ, we can be sanctified and made just as if we’d never sinned!
Forgiveness and redemption are available to everyone, and Jesus has given us His powerful name to use in overcoming any challenge. Though fully God, Jesus operated on earth as a man anointed by the Holy Spirit. He healed the sick, cast out demons, and brought freedom and hope to the brokenhearted. Today we have that same authority through His name.
Philippians 2 reminds us that Jesus humbled himself, obedient even to death on a cross, and as a result, God exalted him above all names. Every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. This includes every challenge we face—temptation, depression, addiction, or any form of oppression— all must submit to the authority of Jesus’ name.
God desires for us to live in freedom, not in bondage to sin or fear. Through Jesus, we have everything needed for life and godliness. As we grow in knowing Him, we discover the fullness of His grace and peace.
If past sins are tormenting you, remember they under the blood of Jesus. Begin embracing your freedom and new identity as a child of God, empowered by His Spirit and armed with His Word. Walk in the authority that Jesus purchased for you, resist the enemy’s lies, and know that you are more than a conqueror in Christ!
