God did this so that they would seek Him and perhaps reach out for Him and find Him, though He is not far from any one of us.
Acts 17:27

So often, when we encounter God at a conference, concert, or church, we get a spiritual high. We get inspired to pray deeper, worship louder, and read scripture longer. We get recharged to seek after God in all that we do. These moments are amazing and feel like nothing can hold you back! You see trials and tribulations from a new perspective, and you give them all to Him.

Yet the problem comes when the trials and tribulations punch back. The problem comes when our old habits and the reality of human sinfulness and brokenness creeps back into our lives. There are days when we become fatigued, tired, or begin to slip backwards. The “honeymoon” phase and the inspirational high begin to fade back into the daily reality and grind.

It’s easy to become discouraged and think God has forsaken us. The reality is that God hasn’t changed, He hasn’t moved on, and He hasn’t stopped walking and talking with you every single day. We are called to seek Him every day, and live from a posture of redemption and joy even when it doesn’t feel like everything is perfect. Our lives are made whole because He is perfect and has already paid the price for our sins.

This week, let’s pray deeper, worship louder, and read scripture longer not because we are riding a temporary spiritual high, but because He has redeemed us and is always walking with us through the highs and lows of life.
