Constant Reminders

Duane Vander Klok

I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies. In your seed all the nations of the earth shall be blessed, because you have obeyed My voice.
Genesis 22:17-18

You cannot go anywhere on purpose without a vision. And maintaining a vision for your life requires tenacity and determination. Too often we have a desire to move, change, or build something in our lives but lack the determination to follow through. When God gives you a vision or desire, write it down, pray about it, speak it, and hold yourself accountable to that vision. Great visions will not be easily won – those victories will take time, people, and faith.

When God promised Abraham that he would be the father of a multitude, God gave him a picture to remember the promise by. God said his descendants would be like the grains of sand on the seashore and the stars in the sky. These pictures were constant reminders of the vision that God gave to Abraham – the promise was before his eyes day and night. And when you hold on to God’s promises, your faith will grow and grow until you see it unfold in your life.

Like Abraham, take care to keep your vision before your eyes, write it on your heart, and keep it in your thoughts. You will move in the direction of your dominant thoughts. So when you spend time in the Word of God and let Him speak into your heart, your mind is renewed and refocused on the vision that He placed in your heart and prepared for you. Start by seeking God and asking what desires He has placed in your heart.
