Intended Destination

Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Hebrews 12:1-2

When you started following Jesus, a path and a purpose were set before you. God wants so much more for your life than you could ever imagine by yourself! But walking out these plans will always require endurance, patience, courage, and, most importantly, a vision.

Keeping a vision of what God wants for your life in front of you gives your choices, reactions, and life a direction. When Jesus was facing the cross, He knew the pain, suffering, and mocking that He would have to endure. And yet He went because He had a vision of the joy that was set before Him. Like Jesus, we need to have a vision that will help us endure and run the race of faith well!

Like a road trip without a destination, you cannot get anywhere on purpose without a vision. Proverbs 29:18 says, Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he. When you can see the finish line, you can endure the race. And think of the joy set before you: hearing “Well done, good and faithful servant,” when you finally meet the Father face to face!
