Traps of the Enemy
Duane Vander Klok
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
Epehsians 6:12
You see, you are in a spiritual battle – there is an enemy to your faith. So who does he attack and devour? He pursues the children of God who give him access, who open the door to him. Those who ignore him, his tactics, and temptations and choose to be ignorant of his strategies can become easy prey. But the Bible tells us to resist him, steadfast in the faith because you have the authority in Christ to defeat him! But know that getting the enemy out of your life requires action. He will not flee if you do not resist him.
You are not going to recognize the attacks of the enemy if you choose to believe that everything that happens is from God. Our God only gives His children good gifts filled with promises, blessings, and hope. Recognize the strategies of the enemy so that you can fight and resist him when he attacks!
When you begin to recognize the strategies and attacks of the enemy, how do you fight? First, resist temptation – run from the trap that he is setting by standing on God’s Word. Like Jesus in the wilderness, fill your mind with scripture so that you are ready for battle. Bring your battles to God in prayer and worship. Philippians 4:6-7 says, Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Fight with all your might and lean on God!
