Redemption Reality
Duane Vander Klok
Christ has indeed been raised, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead also comes through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. 1 Corinthians 15:20-22
In this passage of scripture, the Apostle Paul explains the amazing reality of Christ’s resurrection from the dead. While Adam’s disobedience brought death and separation from God, Christ’s obedience brought life and reconnection with God! Because Jesus was the firstfruit, we know there will be others, and we can be sure that those who put their trust in Him will also be raised to life.
As you read through the Bible, you see that there is plenty more evidence of this reality. Here are just two of the many examples. In John 6:40, Jesus said, “This is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.” And in John 11:25, Jesus boldly stated, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.”
Everyone needs to know these truths, because unless Jesus returns first, all of us are going to die someday. Sadly, many people get caught in the mindset that they need to clean up their lives so that God will accept them into heaven. That is not true.
No one but Jesus could ever be perfect or good enough to pay the price for sin. Hebrews 10:11-18 in the Message Bible explains what Jesus did for us this way: “It was a perfect sacrifice by a perfect person to perfect some very imperfect people. By that single offering, He did everything that needed to be done for everyone who takes part in the purifying process.”
Jesus did it all – our part is to believe and receive – that’s the reality of redemption!
