Precious Promises
Duane Vander Klok
…That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power.
Ephesians 1:17-19
Many of us have asked the question: what did Jesus purchase on the cross? God sent Jesus to restore your relationship with Him, but also to give you access to all His glorious gifts – peace, joy, righteousness, and the Holy Spirit. As Paul is writing Ephesians, he is not trying to get God to do something for us, but helping you to understand what God has already done. As a son or daughter of God, you have access to the riches of our glorious inheritance which includes all the promises of God!
As believers, we do not need to beg God to bless, heal, or help us because we already have access to these promises. We can get caught in wanting to earn His blessings and gifts, but there is nothing you can do to earn or deserve His goodness. You are qualified only through the blood of Jesus – no good work or perfect performance can equal the blood. Your mind may tell you that you are not good enough or don’t deserve His promises, but the Word of God is true over anything the enemy may tell you.
If the lie of “not good enough” is keeping you from grabbing onto the promises of God, you need to change the way you are thinking. The Bible says that you are redeemed, seated with Him in heavenly places, and far above every dominion, principality, and power of this world. You are a part of the Kingdom of Heaven, and you can stand up to the enemy using the dominion that God gave you through the blood of Jesus!
