Claim Your Victory

Duane Vander Klok

The Bible tells us that we are in a fight, not against other people but against the devil. In John 10:10 we are reminded that the devil’s plans are to steal, kill, and destroy your life, and the reason that he is looking to attack you because God loves you and made you in His image. The only way the devil can hurt God is by hurting God’s children.

Do not forget or ignore the plans of the devil — if you don’t know you’re in a fight, you won’t have the victory. The devil can use many things to get his foot into your life. He can use fear, doubt, anxiety, worldly ideas, or lies. But God has already delivered us from all of the attacks of the devil! You don’t have to live in fear, rely on ungodly ideas, or believe the lies of the devil. Jesus took the victory and gave it to us.

God made you to be a warrior. When the devil attacks, you can get right back up and fight back. Proverbs 24:16 says, The godly may trip seven times, but they will get up again. But one disaster is enough to overthrow the wicked. Children of God fight back by resisting the devil (James 4:7). The last time you resisted him is the last time he fled from you. When he attacks, you can fight back by seeking God, spreading the gospel, and sharing your victorious testimony.

Be ready to fight the enemy and advance the Kingdom of God by putting on the armor of God daily.

10 Now my beloved ones, I have saved these most important truths for last: Be supernaturally infused with strength through your life-union with the Lord Jesus. Stand victorious with the force of his explosive power flowing in and through you.
11 Put on God’s complete set of armor provided for us, so that you will be protected as you fight against the evil strategies of the accuser! 12 Your hand-to-hand combat is not with human beings, but with the highest principalities and authorities operating in rebellion under the heavenly realms. For they are a powerful class of demon-gods and evil spirits that hold this dark world in bondage. 13 Because of this, you must wear all the armor that God provides so you’re protected as you confront the slanderer, for you are destined for all things and will rise victorious.
