But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”

There is a hunger and desire for God in our society today. But where there is a hunger and searching for God, the enemy likes to come in to pervert, deter, and distort. The enemy will try his best to keep you from God. He will offer and tempt you with every other worldly desire in order to keep you distracted and separated from your Heavenly Father.

The enemy knows that only God can give what we truly need and desire, but he will offer you counterfeit after counterfeit. In God we find love, intimacy and joy while the enemy can only offer superficial connection and twisted worldly pleasures that leave us empty. God can give us true purpose and an urgency to share the gospel, but the enemy offers purposelessness, exhaustion, and anxiety.

Despite the efforts of the enemy to keep you from living a full and blessed life overflowing with purpose, we know that God has so much in store for you. Jesus did not die only to get you into heaven, He wants to get heaven into you! However, action is required of us. We need to choose God’s way over the enemy’s. Ask God to help you recognize the distractions and temptations of the enemy and begin to put them aside. You are called to love God, love your neighbor, and share the gospel.

The enemy succeeds in keeping so many non-believers and even some believers from a fulfilled and purposeful life. God offers a way out of the darkness of the enemy into the destiny that He has prepared for you. The world is desperate to know the love of God – are you ready to step into what God is calling you to?
