A True Foundation
Duane Vander Klok
Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.
But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.
Matthew 7:24-27
Your life needs to be built on an unwavering foundation. The world offers you so many building options: pleasure, material possessions, tolerance, worldly causes, or even your own selfish desires. But all those things are temporal and will not last in eternity. A good foundation is made with truth – the Word of God.
Jesus tells us in this parable that storms will come. You may not know when, how, or why you face floods, winds, and rain, but you can know how to endure and even oppose them. Take care to build your foundation now – you cannot build during a storm. When you face a storm with the foundation of Jesus, you can know that you will not be shaken.
Build your life on the rock of Jesus by allowing the Word and the Holy Spirit to renew your mind. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 says, All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. He has good things planned for your life, but you need to start with a good foundation. And He calls you to build your faith because His plans for you will require more faith than you had yesterday.
Meditate on His Word and promises every day and your faith will grow on a strong foundation. Build your life on the Rock!
