Seeing Hope
Duane Vander Klok
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.
Hebrews 11:1 NIV
God is calling you to a higher level of faith. When you received salvation, you were young in your faith, but since that moment, God has been calling you deeper and deeper into a relationship with Him. He wants you to walk confidently knowing that He will never leave or forsake you even when you cannot see Him.
Your faith will grow as you seek and spend time with God. And like any other relationship, your relationship with Him requires your effort, attention, and focus. He doesn’t want just your leftover time; He wants to be a priority in your choices and schedule. If you put forth the effort, your time with God will not return wasted.
Faith is not only something to turn to when you are facing a storm in your life. God wants to know and be with you in good times and hard times, in the morning and the evening, in the mountains and the valleys. Listen to God and trust Him as the foundation of your life every day, not just when you are in trouble or have a situation that you don’t see a way out of. Just like you can’t build a boat in a hurricane, you can’t expect to build your faith from nothing in a stormy circumstance. You have to build your faith on the shore and in calm seas so that you can ride out the storms that you will face. What if you spent as much time with God as you spend trying to fix the storm in front of you?
Through the storms and the difficult circumstances, your faith will grow and deepen when you turn to Him because you will have to trust in a new and deeper way. With each storm, your faith will be stretched and challenged. But you need a foundation of faith to stand on when the battles come. When you choose faith in God, you will see hope when the world only sees chaos.
