Transformed

Duane Vander Klok

Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you].
Romans 12:2 AMPC

As a believer, you are presenting your spirit, soul, and body to God everyday as a living sacrifice. This means choosing His ways over worldly desires and following His leading in your life even when your flesh wants the opposite.

When you get saved and surrender your life to God, your spirit is saved. And when He comes back, your body will be saved. But in the meantime, you need to do something with your mind. This verse instructs us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds so that we can better serve God here on earth. During our lives, we learn ways of thinking that are not from God. These things may come from our families, culture, and other influences that are not godly, so we need to renew those areas in order to see God’s will.

As we fill our minds with His Word, the Holy Spirit helps wipe away those old ways of thinking and instructs and leads us in the Word. We need to turn from those old ways of thinking and acting, and instead fill ourselves with God’s thoughts!

When we turn from those old ways, we are repenting – a change in the way we think that results in a change in our actions. Repenting is changing direction and not looking back! Isaiah 55:7 says, Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the LORD, And He will have mercy on him; And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon. We serve a merciful God!

Ask God to renew the areas of your mind that you might be struggling in and watch your life be transformed!
