Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Hebrews 12:1-2

Life here on earth is like the pregame to eternal life – what you do here will affect eternity deeply. When you are on earth, you can choose to spend eternity with God or without Him. You can choose to invest your time, heart, and money to the Kingdom of God. And you can choose to share the gift of eternal life with God with those around you. But once you step into eternity, you cannot go back to change your decisions.

Matthew 13:22 says, Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful. Many people choose to run the race toward earthly riches, wealth, and power. The deceitfulness of riches says that those who accumulate wealth and material possessions are winning, but the truth is that you are playing the wrong game. You may be winning temporarily, but earthly success does not carry into eternity.

When we shift our focus onto the Kingdom and eternity, our motivations, thoughts, decisions, and actions are going to look different. Sharing the love of God and building His Kingdom becomes more important than material wealth or worldly success. As you submit your life to God, He blesses and rewards you here on earth as well as in eternity. And know that you are not running alone; you can run the race well by looking to Jesus, the Author and Finisher of your faith!
