The Last Adam
Duane Vander Klok
Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
Genesis 1:26-28
Did you know that you were created in the image of God? You are His child created to be in relationship with Him and rule in the earth. When God created the first man, Adam, He gave him all authority over the earth and every living thing. Adam and Eve lived in a paradise working in the garden and in perfect fellowship with God.
But this all changed in one event – Adam and Eve gave into the enemy and handed over their authority to him. When they acted on the temptation of the enemy and disobeyed God, Adam and Eve surrendered their dominion. And because Adam was the first representative of mankind, all authority was given to the enemy on that day.
Thankfully, Adam was not the only representative of mankind. Jesus came as the second and final delegate for you! Through His death and resurrection, Jesus won back the authority lost in the garden; He has placed it back in your hands, and you are no longer under the dominance of the enemy. With Jesus you have the power to come against sickness, pain, death, hopelessness, and every other weapon of the enemy!
