Speak in Faith

Duane Vander Klok

Then Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. And when He had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterward He was hungry. Now when the tempter came to Him, he said, “If You are the Son of God, command that these stones become bread.”
But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ”

Matthew 4:1-4

Like Jesus in the desert, you can stand in faith against the devil and use the Word of God to defeat him. Christianity is not passive, but an active fight of faith! God freely gives you the Kingdom and every good thing, but the enemy will try to oppose God’s blessings. Fighting his lies and temptations will require growing in faith.

In order to be effective, your faith has to be fed continually. Dormant faith will not move mountains! The faith you have as a new believer will not be enough to fulfill all that God has planned for you. You are called to grow from faith to faith by filling your heart with His Word. Romans 10:17 tells us that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. Notice that it says hearing—not having heard. You have to continually meditate on the Word of God and listen to the Holy Spirit to build your faith.

The devil is here to steal, kill, and destroy, but as believers, we are supposed to demonstrate Satan’s defeat. Too often we are waiting for God to do something, but He is waiting on you to speak in faith. Resist the enemy with your words, and speak to that mountain in front of you!
