Run the Race
Duane Vander Klok
Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Hebrews 12:1-2
What happens when you die? This is a question that people all over the world seek answers to. Praise God that as a believer, you know you will be spending eternity with your Father in heaven! He assures you of this in 2 Corinthians 5:8, We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord. As you leave your physical body behind here on earth, you are carried up to heaven to be with Him.
And know that your time here on earth has a great impact on eternity. You have the opportunity to get to know God increasingly more and share the good news with those around you! Be encouraged that you can run this race here on earth with the help of the Holy Spirit and the passion of all the believers that have finished before you. Keep your eyes on Jesus, and He will lead you into what you were created for that will impact eternity in a great way!
Maybe you are unsure of where you are going after your time here on earth. Jesus said that you must be born again in order to know that you will spend eternity with Him. That means asking Jesus to be your Savior, turning away from your old ways of thinking, and making Him the Lord of your life.
Romans 10:9 says if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. You can begin a relationship with God by “confessing” the following prayer and believing in your heart.
“God, I believe Jesus died on the cross, I believe His blood paid for my sins, and I believe He rose again. I give Him all of my heart and all of my life. I hold nothing back, and as You help me, I will live for Jesus every day. I receive the forgiveness Jesus purchased for me. I thank you my past is gone, that I am your child, a part of your family today and forever. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
