The Same Power

Duane Vander Klok

Now after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb. And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it. His countenance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow. And the guards shook for fear of him, and became like dead men.
But the angel answered and said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him. Behold, I have told you.”

Matthew 28:1-7

The resurrection was not only an event that happened two thousand years ago; it is an invitation into an eternity with God. It is a journey of redemption and newness of life. Resurrection power gets you into heaven, but it also gets heaven into you right now! This is the Easter message: that we do not need to live as we did before. You are redeemed and have access to the same power that raised Christ from the dead. The Friday message is redemption, but the Sunday message is victory!

Jesus was victorious over death, sin, guilt, and the devil, and He wants to be victorious in your life. That resurrection power can bring a dead marriage back to life, give provision to destroyed finances, and turn depression into joy. You may think that you can never get away from past sin or that it will keep creeping into your life. But the truth is that it was washed away when you accepted Jesus. God sees you as righteous, and He has great plans for you. And as you start to follow Jesus, your life will look different because you have access to the freedom and authority that He purchased on the cross. The same power that raised Him from the dead is in you, and it is for today!
