Receive the Spirit

Duane Vander Klok

I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—the Spirit of truth.” – John 14:16–17

When Jesus rose from the grave, He didn’t leave His followers to figure things out on their own. He said, “You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem… and to the end of the earth” (Acts 1:8). That same power is still available today.

On the day of Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit was poured out, Peter stood and declared, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit” (Acts 2:38). Then he added something for not only that time, but for all time when he said, “For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call” (Acts 2:39). That includes you. Whether you live in Africa, Asia, Europe, the Americas – or anywhere on the earth – this promise is available today.

Some who haven’t experienced the baptism in the Holy Spirit think it is merely an emotional experience, but that is not the case. It is empowerment! It gives believers the boldness to speak truth, the clarity to find their purpose, and the fire needed for ministry and miracles today.

Please don’t settle for a faith without fire. If you have received Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord, don’t think this promise was only for the past. The Holy Spirit is being poured out even now upon those who seek Him. It is a gift, and it is for you!
Ask and receive by faith. And step into the power of the Holy Spirit today.
