God of His Word

Duane Vander Klok

Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
James 5:16

Some people believe that everything that happens in life is God’s will. We don’t pray because we don’t think it will make any difference in our lives, but this is not true! Your prayer moves God’s heart and invites Him into your life.

By the Spirit of God you have the authority to fight sickness, disease, war, famine, racism, greed, lust, and every other evil thing. What is your best weapon against the plans of the enemy? Your tongue! Proverbs 18:21 says, Life and death are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit. When you pray and speak in faith, you are pushing back against the advances of the enemy.

Our God is sovereign and all-powerful, but the Bible tells us that not everything that happens is His will. Ephesians 3:20 says, Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us… Your faith determines how God works in the world – He has given so much authority to you as a believer. Think of it this way: God is the owner of our world, but He is renting it to us. He cannot enter without permission from you; you are a partner in what God does here on earth. He wants only good things for you, but you have to invite Him in first.

Revelation 3:20 says, Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. He is knocking at the door of your heart hoping you will let Him in. He has purpose, blessing, and favor for your life, but He will not force it on you. Open the door and witness the power of faith-filled prayer in your life!
