Not By Sight
Duane Vander Klok
“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”
Hebrews 11:1
Faith stands on the promises of God even before they are fulfilled. And when we stand in faith, we invite God to move in times of darkness.
Our faith is tested throughout our lives because our adversary, the devil, is looking to attack us at every turn. But we live by faith, and not by sight. We can persevere through the dark and testing times because we have faith in things that are unseen. We see through the darkness and into what is coming – the fulfillment of His promises. 2 Corinthians 4:18 says, “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal. Though darkness is surrounding us, it is temporary, and the Kingdom of God is eternal.”
When we fix our eyes on things that are eternal, we can see the promises over the problems. Though we are still walking through the valleys in life, our eyes are fixed on the prize. We do not stop in the valley, but continually seek God in faith.
Galatians 6:9 says, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” While in the darkness, do not grow weary in your faith. Persevere through the trials and grow in faith as you stand on His Word.
Stand in faith by speaking in agreement with the promises of God. See the victory beyond the darkness and proclaim it over your life. Declare the breakthrough, healing, deliverance, peace, joy, purpose, and blessing that He offers instead of the darkness that may surround you. Stand in faith!
