Mountain Mover

Duane Vander Klok

Jesus looked at them and said, ‘with man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.’ Matthew 19:26

Jesus taught His disciples that if they had faith the size of a mustard seed, then nothing could stand between them and what God has called them to do. You see, a mustard seed is one of the smallest seeds when referenced to the size of the plant that sprouts from it. From it sprouts a large plant that produces thousands of other seeds, and which drop seeds that hold the potential to grow into equally large bushes, and so on and so forth.

So often when we read this passage, we only think about our own faith and the power that it holds against situations we personally face. We think about the mountain, the Goliath, and the Enemy that stands against us. Here’s the thing though, what if it’s not just about our personal faith in one situation, but the seeds that we sow into those witnessing our defiant posture against the Enemy.

You see, when we stand against the Enemy and proclaim the Truth with boldness, the mountain in the heart of the people watching begins to shift. The Enemy’s foothold in their lives slips, and a beam of hope begins to shine deep into their souls and situations. Too often we are only looking at our own mountain, and we are not aware of the spiritual mountains shifting around us in the hearts and souls of those witnessing our holy defiance.

This week, let’s face our mountains with boldness and confidence in Jesus Christ, not just for our own growth, but for the benefit of those who need to hear the Gospel of Hope and Light in their lives.
