“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
Romans 12:2 NKJV
In Christ, you are a new creation. When you are saved your spirit is made new and will spend all of eternity in heaven with God. But that isn’t the only thing that God wants for you. He does want you to be saved and with Him in heaven, but He also wants to get heaven into you right now. We are each called to build His Kingdom here— to bring heaven to earth. We can do that by asking God to renew our minds so that we are full of the Holy Spirit instead of the world.
Romans 12:2 warns us against conforming to the pattern of the world. As believers, we need to value and know what God says over what the world says. The world has thoughts, ideas, values, and morals that the enemy tries to get us to believe and act on. But the things of the world are not the things of God. Take care that you are not believing the lies of the world and the enemy over God.
How do we know the difference between the lies of the world and the truth of God? The second part of Romans 12:2 says to be transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove the perfect will of God—bring heaven to earth. When we dive into the Word and let the Holy Spirit work in our heart, our mind gets renewed. But this is not a one-time thing. We need to be in the Word and listening to the Holy Spirit every day because He has new revelation for us as we continue to seek Him. Be diligent, and allow truth to fill your heart up every day.
You have been made new. You are no longer of the world. Your spirit has an eternal place with God, and you are called to build the Kingdom here!
