God’s Handiwork

Duane Vander Klok

“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” ~ Ephesians 2:10

As you read this, I hope you’ll take a minute to consider what it means to be God’s handiwork.

Think about it: the God who created the universe also formed you in your mother’s womb. That’s what the psalmist was talking about in Psalm 139:13 when he said: “For You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother’s womb” – and God Himself told Jeremiah, the prophet: “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

Likewise, God created you with a purpose in mind. Nothing about you is an accident. Nothing is ordinary about you. You are an original because God Himself is the Artist, the Creator.

There is only one you, and you were created by God, as Isaiah 43:7 says, for His glory.

Be encouraged to see yourself the way He sees you. And if you haven’t already, why not ask Him what it is that He plans for you to do with your life that will bring Him glory?
