God heals, Satan steals

Duane Vander Klok

God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. -Acts 10:38

The Bible teaches us that Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). This means that His character and nature have not changed over time, and He is still doing only good things. His power has not diminished, and He still saves and heals people today.

God wants you to understand that He does not use sickness, disease, or any other evil thing to punish you or teach you a lesson. Sickness is oppression, and it comes from the devil. He is the one who comes to steal, kill, and destroy, and he would love for you to have an incorrect picture of God so you won’t put your trust in Him. That is one of the reasons 1 Peter 5:8-9 tells believers: Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Resist him, steadfast in the faith.

Many people who have an illness pray and ask for an instant healing. There is certainly nothing wrong with that! But you also need to recognize that, while Jesus often healed instantly, healing can also be gradual. James 5:15 says the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. This means healing begins taking place at the time you pray in faith and will continue until healing is complete.

Be encouraged to keep your trust in God’s healing power and His unwavering goodness. Resist the enemy’s lies about who God is and remain steadfast, knowing the Lord is with you, raising you up and restoring your health.
