Following His Lead
Duane Vander Klok
“Well done, good and faithful servant.”
Matthew 25:21 NIV
These are the words every believer wants to hear when we finally meet our Heavenly Father face to face. We are called to love and serve our Father by building His Kingdom here on earth. He created you for a purpose, and you are an important part of the will of God.
Throughout your life as a believer, God will lead you in different ways. The most important way is through His Word. God will never contradict His Word, and He is constantly revealing Himself through it. Hebrews 4:12 ESV tells us that the Word of God is living and active—the more you seek Him, the more He will reveal Himself to you.
He will also lead you through His Spirit. The Holy Spirit can guide you by putting peace or a desire in your heart to move you in a certain direction. Colossians 3:15 NIV says, “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace.” His peace will guide you when you let Him rule in your heart. As you follow His lead, the Holy Spirit will place desires in your heart that line up with His Word and use the gifts that He has given you. Know the Word of God and know the Spirit of God.
You won’t know the will of God if you don’t first know Him. Matthew 7:7 NIV says, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” Seek God above all else, and He will reveal Himself to you. Know His heart, and you will recognize His guidance. Put your trust in Him, and He will lead to do great things.
