Feed Your Faith
Duane Vander Klok
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Have you ever been reading the Bible, listening to a sermon, or listening to a worship song that you’ve heard a thousand times before, and suddenly the words just jump out at you? You’ve read or heard the words many times before, but something is different now. In a single hour, day, or week, or even untold number of years, an old and familiar Bible verse suddenly takes on new life and pierces your spirit.
The entire Bible is the Word of God. It is alive, and is sharper than any two edged sword. When you are reading it, it is alive and reading you. It is reading whatever situation you are in, and communing with your spirit. It’s correcting you. It’s exposing and showing you things. It knows what you need to hear, and knows what needs to be revealed to you in every situation.
The Bible is faith food. It is food for your faith. Your faith will not grow without the Word of God. You grow spiritually through continually reading, meditating, and worshiping through His Word. This is not meant to be a once-per-week event on Sunday mornings. Instead, it is meant to be a part of every single day of our lives.
One of the best ways to do this is to write down one verse that jumps out every day. For that entire day, read it and meditate upon it. Write it on a sticky note and put it on your computer at work! It’s OK to get creative! Do something to continually meditate upon what He is speaking to you!
This week, let’s focus on His words in Scripture, and ask for Him to reveal to us something new. Let’s ask for Him to speak into our lives, and provide direction for our souls.
