Father Figure

Duane Vander Klok

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
Because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed;
To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.

Luke 4:18-19

We are in an age where you can learn almost anything by searching for information or instructions on Google or watching YouTube tutorials. We are surrounded by teachers and information, but what we really need, and often lack, are fathers.

God designed the father relationship for your good, growth, connection, impartation, and blessing. But relationships with fathers are under attack. Because this relationship is so valuable, the enemy seeks to destroy it from day one. Sadly, many people have been disconnected from their fathers and walk through life with father wounds from childhood. These wounds can affect so many areas of life, and even affect your relationship with your Heavenly Father.

But there is a way through. Jesus came to heal the brokenhearted and restore your soul! Allow God to heal any past wounds and begin to receive the blessing that He gives through that relationship. When you are broken on the inside, there will be situations in life that your heart does not have the strength to withstand. And you need to understand that time does not heal your wounds—it only allows you to build up new walls to protect your heart. Only God heals!

When your heart is healed, you can build godly relationships with your earthly father as well as your Heavenly Father. These relationships are powerful! Through your father, you can receive the acceptance, approval, guidance, and correction that your heart needs. Remember that no matter what your relationship with your earthly father looks like, your Heavenly Father will always love, guide, and care for you. God sent His Son to die so that He could have a relationship with you!
