Every Day with Jesus

Duane Vander Klok

“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
Colossians 3:17

Have you ever noticed that it is much easier to trust Jesus with our eternity, than it is to trust Him with our every day? So often, we focus on faith as it relates to eternity and to the end of the story when Jesus returns to Earth, or when we die and return to Him in Heaven. Yet, there is so much more to life than just the ‘end of the story.’ Jesus is waiting for us to walk with Him every day, not just during the lows and highs of life, but also the mundane moments in-between.

This does not just mean we say a simple prayer before every meal and before we go to sleep. It means that everything that we do should be an act of worship, prayer, and offering to God. He becomes the filter through which we weigh our actions, and do everything. I want to be clear, this is not to try and ‘earn’ salvation, ‘impress’ God, nor be a ‘perfect’ person. There is nothing that we can do to earn His love, grace, and mercy that He has already given to us through His life, death on the cross, burial, and resurrection.

Instead, it is all about relationship with Him every single day. It’s asking, “Jesus, does this emotion of sadness, happiness, or boredom match up with the Truth that you are speaking over my life?” or “Jesus, how can I better give glory and honor to You in my actions?” or even, “How can I love the people around me, just like You love them?”

This week, let’s turn our focus to Him every single day, and begin moving our faith in Him to the forefront of everything that we do.
