Embrace Grace
Duane Vander Klok
My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness. 2 Corinthians 12:9
God’s grace is far greater than our weaknesses and sins. It is the foundation for our relationship with Him, and we need His grace every day we live on the earth. No one, by using their own human effort, can fulfill God’s plan and purposes for their life. But by appropriating the free gift of His grace we are able to experience the life He designed for us—and that grace will sustain and enable us throughout our lives.
The enemy often tries to deceive us into thinking that we have to strive in our own strength or follow the ways of the world to find fulfillment. Yet, the truth is that God’s grace is sufficient for every step of our journey. In Romans 5:20, Paul says, “But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more.” Even when we fall short or make mistakes, God’s grace covers us.
This is all great information, but we also need to be aware that the enemy wants to steal the freedom that grace gives so he can lead us into guilt and condemnation. But Romans 8:1 assures us that “there is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus.”
Taking hold of God’s grace allows us to stand firm in the face of the enemy’s attacks. James 4:6 says, “But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: ‘God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.'” When you humble yourself before God, recognizing that you need His grace, He empowers you to resist the devil. It’s His grace that sustains and covers you, and as you embrace His grace you can live the good and victorious life He has planned for you!
