Compassionate Healer

Duane Vander Klok

“When Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick.” – Matthew 14:14

One of the ways Jesus displayed His compassion for people was by healing the sick.

In Matthew 20:30-34, we read, “Two blind men sitting by the road, when they heard that Jesus was passing by, cried out, saying, ‘Have mercy on us, O Lord, Son of David!’ Jesus had compassion and touched their eyes. And immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed Him.”

And in Mark’s gospel, we’re told, “A leper came to Him, imploring Him, kneeling down to Him and saying to Him, “If You are willing, You can make me clean.” Then Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, “I am willing; be cleansed.” As soon as He had spoken, immediately the leprosy left him, and he was cleansed” (Mark 1:40-42).

In each of these cases, Jesus saw the needs of the people. He felt their need, and responded by healing them.

What does that mean for you today? It means that, because Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8), He wants to manifest His compassionate love and mercy in your situation.

Just as those people reached out to Him, you can too. He sees your need, feels your need, and wants to meet your need – even for healing in your body. Reach out to Him today!
