Are You Blocking God’s Will?

Duane Vander Klok

And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise. Galatians 3:29

Many people have believed that everything that happens is God’s will, but when sin entered the world, the devil was given an open door. Do not be mistaken – sickness, pain, and illness are not from God. He can make something good out of any situation, but God does not give you bad things. James 1:17 says, Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. And Matthew 7:11 says, If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him! We have a good Father who wants good things for us – He wants to heal you. If you have been born again, you are an heir to the promises of God.

But know that before you see the healing manifest in your body, it will overflow in your heart. When you receive from the Lord, you receive it internally first. Mark 6:5-6 says, Now He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. And He marveled because of their unbelief. This verse does not say He would not do mighty works, but that He could not. Unbelief in your heart can block what God has for you.

So how can you fill your heart with faith until it overflows? Well, the bible tells us in Romans 10:17, Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. Faith grows as we read God’s Word and meditate on His power and goodness. Stop and think: are you pouring more fear or faith into your heart?
