A Mother’s Power
Duane Vander Klok
Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6
As a mother, you are one of the biggest and most important influences in your children’s lives. You have the power to influence your family in big ways – the paths and decisions they make, their self-esteem, and knowing their identity in Christ. Your prayers, your attitude, and your support have more value and power than you can know.
So be intentional about what you are teaching and training them to be. Proverbs 9:10 says, The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. When you live to honor the Lord, your children will watch and see His awesome power and faithfulness at work in your life. What an amazing way to teach them about the goodness of God!
We know it is not always easy to teach and disciple children day in and day out. But you have a secret weapon – the Holy Spirit! He is the comforter, counselor, and guide for your everyday life. He loves your children and wants the best for you and your family, and He can guide you into the right responses and paths for your child. But remember, He cares so much for you too! He is always there to refresh your spirit when you are burning out and comfort you when you are overwhelmed. Turn to Him in those times and ask for a revived spirit!
