Rise Up
Duane Vander Klok
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
Ephesians 6:12
Many Christians today look for a natural reason for everything, but the Bible says that there is a spiritual realm behind what we see in the natural. And though it may be difficult to see, your fight is not against the natural, but against the principalities and powers of the enemy. And like Jesus in the desert, you can use the Word of God as your weapon against the enemy. The Word of God is the truth that destroys his lies!
When you speak the Word of God, you are confessing what He says about you. In Luke 10:19, Jesus says, “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” What are you going to do with that authority that God has given you?
The enemy often uses circumstances or words that are spoken against you to tear you down. Anything spoken over you that does not agree with what God says about you is a weapon that the enemy can use. Rise up and speak the Word of God when the enemy comes against you. It is only when you are quiet and passive that his lies can begin to take root in your life.
1 Timothy 6:12 says, Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses. A common misconception is that Christianity only requires you to believe in something or simply know about it, but the Bible tells us that faith requires action. Christianity is a fight from the womb to the tomb, but the Kingdom of God is here and now so that you can take authority over the devil and have victory in Jesus!
