The Fourth Man

Duane Vander Klok

We are in a season of darker times—in our city, nation, and world. And in these times, believers must choose to stand on what God is saying rather than what the world says. Our hope does not come from outward circumstances, but from our Comforter and Prince of Peace.

As believers, we are called to stand on the Word of God that is unseen. While the world may fear temporary turmoil, we can stand firm and know that God is with us and fighting for us. Like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the fiery furnace, Jesus is right here with us in the flames. Even when it seems like everything in our lives could burn to ashes, we know He is here. We can know this because His Word promises us that He will never leave nor forsake us. He will never leave our side, and He will never turn His heart from us.

We believe His promises to be true, but we are also called to do something. We have to agree with Him and resist what the world and the enemy try to convince us is true. We are called to proclaim His Word, His victory, and His presence as truth over our situations. We have a part to play—speak out His Word and promises and prepare your heart for Him to move. If you are not expecting to see Jesus in the fire, you might miss Him.

You have a part to play because we are fighting a real enemy in this world. He is out to kill, steal, and destroy and the bible tells us to resist the devil. We do not just try to avoid or ignore the devil in our lives, but we are called to resist him on purpose. Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. We are called to fight back by sharing the goodness of our Father.

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will.”
Romans 12:2 NIV

Do not fear as the world does. Ask God to renew your mind and show you how He is walking right next to you even in the flames.
