Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6

Do you believe in God? Do you believe that God loves you and has a purpose and a plan for your life? Most of us would respond with a resounding “yes” to these two questions. If you grew up in the Church, then you probably sang the Sunday school song, “Jesus loves me.” Or at the very least, we all know John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” God loves us, so of course He has a purpose and a plan for us!

Yet if we are honest, we sometimes wish that God would reveal His plan to us directly. How nice it would be to receive a road map with His plan, knowing every twist and turn, valley and peak, and every good and bad event coming our way. It’s easy to believe in God and His word when things are going good, but sometimes our negative circumstances make it hard to be sure that He has a plan. So let me ask you a third question: do you trust God?

When we do not trust God and His plan, we begin to make our own path through life. We begin to accept less than godly standards. When we don’t trust in His plan, we become willing to compromise our faith, our beliefs, and our morals. The enemy takes these fears and doubts, and tells us that God doesn’t have a plan, and even more, that He doesn’t love you. But let me tell you, it’s just not true.

God does see you. God does have a plan for you, even in the hard times. And God loves you more than you know. Luke 12:6-7 says it this way, “Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.” God intimately knows you, down to the very number of hairs on your head.

This week, let’s turn back to God and put our trust in His plan for our lives once again. Let our prayer be, “Father, I believe in you. I believe that you love me, and that you have a purpose and a plan for my life. Even when my circumstances tell me otherwise, I put my full trust in you.”
